Too weak of a mixture won’t be as effective and can have a very short residual.

Too strong of a mixture may have unintended consequences on the ecosystem and is a waste of product and money.

Label formulations and formulations given by these calculators may slightly differ due to differences in rounding but are by and large accurate.

### How Many Gallons of Pesticide Will I Need Calculator

Fill out how much area you need to cover and we’ll tell you how many gallons you need. Choose one of the following scenarios –

- Enter the
**number of square feet**you need to treat - If doing an exterior foundation treatment, you can enter the
**length of the perimeter of your home in linear feet**and we’ll account for spraying ~3 feet up the foundation. - If you’re doing a large-scale project you can use the
**acres**option.

By default, we will assume you will be spraying at a rate of **1 gallon for every 1,000 square feet** (the most common recommendation from pesticide labels). If your label recommends a different spray rate, you can adjust that field.

**Example**: If you need to spray 3000 square feet at a rate of 1 gallon per 1000 square feet, you will need to mix 3 gallons.

### How Much Pesticide Do I Add to My Sprayer Calculator

If you plan on filling your sprayer and just need to know **how much pesticide to add to it**, this is the calculator for you.

**Example**: You have a 1-gallon sprayer and you want to mix in Bifen IT which has a 7.9% active ingredient composition. The label recommends a 0.12% application concentration. You must add 1.9 ounces to get the sprayer (or round up to 2 ounces).

Does your pesticide bottle measure in **milliliters**? You can still use the above calculator, Just multiply the ounces by 29.57 to make the conversion.

## Farm/Industrial Calculators

When it comes to farming, pesticides and herbicides must be applied at a much larger scale. Improperly calibrated equipment or incorrectly calculated mixtures can have a massive negative impact. A farmer could lose thousands of dollars by insufficiently protecting their crops or by wasting costly chemicals by applying too much at once.

The below calculators use the formulas set out by the USDA.

### Gallons per Minute Calculator

This calculator can help you determine the gallons-per-minute (GPM) output required per nozzle to achieve your desired gallons-per-acre (GPA).

For the nozzle option, you enter the spacing between nozzles if using a multi-nozzle setup such as a boom sprayer. If you’re using a single nozzle boomless sprayer, enter the width of the broadcast in inches.

No matter what type of sprayer you’re using, this calculator will tell you what the GPM should be **per nozzle**.

The speed at which your vehicle moves has a great impact on the application rate. The below calculator will tell you at which speed you’ll want to travel in order to apply your desired GPA.

Keep in mind no matter what type of sprayer you’re using, for this calculator you will want to use the combined GPM output and the total swath width (boom width) as the inputs.

### How Many Acres Can I Treat With My Tank?

This calculator will tell you how many acres you can treat with one full tank given a specific GPA and tank size.

### How Many Gallons of Pesticide/Solution Do I Need?

If you know how many acres you need to cover and your GPA, this will tell you how many gallons of mixture is needed.

### How Many Gallons of Chemical Do I Need?

Now we get into calculating how much pesticide to add to your water tank. Chemical labels should tell you the appropriate **pounds-per-acre** of the product to apply.

The label should also tell you the **pounds of active ingredient per gallon** in the product.

By combining those two numbers and the number of acres you need to cover, we can calculate how many gallons of the chemical to purchase. Keep in mind depending on your tank size and the number of acres, you may not be able to use all of the chemicals in one shot.

### How Much Dry Pesticide Do I Need?

If you’re using a dry chemical or “wetable powder”, the calculation will actually be pretty much the same.

Wetable Powders (WP) will tell you the % of active ingredient in them which you will enter into the “% of Active Ingredient per Pound” field. One tip – most of these products will have something like “22 WP” or “50 WP” in the name. This indicates that 22% or 50% of the product is active ingredient per pound.
